Celebration Challenge – Day 25 – Take better pictures 3!

Happy day 25 readers!!

I'm so excited to hear that my tips from the last couple nights have encouraged many of you to get out and take some pics!!  I absolutely LOVE this stuff and hope you're having some fun with it too!

Ok … time to share my final tip to getting better pictures through composition.

Composition Rule #3 – Leading lines

Using leading lines means to use "lines" in your environment to draw your eye through your image or to your subject.  Lines can come from sidewalks, roads, bridges, or things in nature.  Usually these images are best shot at a wider angle, but you just have to watch for it.  Yet again, it's best if I show you …

See how the lines from the peacock's feathers draw your eye right to his body?

Here's another example ….

The lines of the train track lead right to my subjects … one uber-cool family!  Look at that picture pout!  Seriously!

Finally … in my last example, I used the bricks in this alley as my leading lines.  See how they lead you through the image and right to him?  Cool, huh?

Like I said, usually it's best to shoot images with leading lines with a little wider angle.  It allows for more space for the line to move through your image.  The tighter the shot, the less line you'll see.  I hope that makes sense!

So now you've got it … three rules of composition to make your pictures better!  I hope you'll give it a shot and let me know what you came up with!!  Remember, now that you know a few tips, you've just got to practice!  So, pack along your camera with you and pull it out everytime you see something that inspires you or makes you smile!

Now, a quick question … should we do this again?  Are you interested in any more tips?  Let me hear your feedback because I've got more to share!

Until tomorrow guys!

Your blogs have been great to read and I love seeing your photography. You really have a gift Bethany. I am so glad you are sharing it with others. You are an inspiration to so many. Your little boys are so lucky to have a mom like you and your husband is lucky to have a super woman for a wife and mother of his boys!
